Natural Gas Distribution Department
The Gas Distribution Department of the Village of Morton consists of three field technicians under the direction of the Superintendent of Gas Distribution. The Superintendent of Gas Distribution is Scott Stidman.
The Gas Department is responsible for installation, replacement and maintenance of gas mains, valves, service lines, meters, regulators, radios and odorization equipment. The Gas Department’s responsibility stops at the outlet side of the customer gas meter, unless the meter is located more than 3 feet away from the dwelling.
The Superintendent of Gas Distribution also acts as the Assistant Superintendent of Water Distribution. The Gas Department and the Water Distribution Department cross train with one another. Cross training allows the two departments to work as one team during times of emergency which effectively doubles the number of qualified personnel. The two departments also share building facilities, equipment and on-call responsibilities.
